Ryan Schiller

Ryan Schiller, age 14, is making his LA Opera debut in Die Zauberflöte (January 2009). He is a veteran performer at the Los Angeles Music Center as a member of the Concert Choir, the premiere ensemble of the Los Angeles Children's Chorus. He appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic in Mahler's Symphony No. 8 for Esa-Pekka Salonen's final concert at the Hollywood Bowl, and has also performed Benjamin Britten's War Requiem with the Los Angeles Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall. Last summer he went on tour to China with LACC and sang with the Stanford University Symphony Orchestra at Great Hall of the People, the National Center for Performing Arts (known as "The Egg") and on top of the Great Wall. In 2007 he appeared in Keepers of the Night, a children's opera at the Alex Theater in Glendale, directed by Grant Gershon. Ryan is a former choir boy of The Pasadena Boys Choir, a current member of the St. Bede the Venerable School Chorus, and on student council. He plays catcher for his local baseball team, has reached the level of Life rank in the Boy Scouts and recently peaked Mt. Baldy with his troop.
