|
Michael Gottlieb (lighting design) designs for theatre, television, opera, dance, corporate events and architecture. His opera credits include adapting Richard Pilbrow's design for the Sir Peter Hall production of The Magic Flute in San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington DC; the premiere of Jonathan Sheffer's Blood on the Dining Room Floor (WPA Theatre, Off-Broadway); Suor Angelica for Rockland Opera and Rigoletto in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. He toured internationally with Steve Reich and Beryl Korot's music-theatre piece The Cave. Recent theatre credits include The Master Builder with James Naughton (Irish Rep), Spain (Manhattan Class Company), Election Day (Second Stage) and the Broadway production of A Tale of Two Cities (as Associate Lighting Designer), as well as regional work at the Goodspeed Opera House and the Hangar Theatre. Television: Emmy Award for the 2004 Athens Olympic Games; two additional Emmy nominations; specials such as Democracy Plaza and Christmas in Rockefeller Center; continuing work on Saturday Night Live and The Today Show. Mr. Gottlieb is a graduate of Vassar College and the British & European Studies Group, London.
